Support to help your child thrive at school
Parents often worry whether their child is truly ready for big school—especially if they struggle with letters, numbers, or even holding a pencil. But Steps to School Success goes beyond these basics, showing that school readiness is much more than academic skills alone.
School readiness includes a range of skills including social skills, emotional awareness and flexibility, physical development, communication, and thinking skills.
To help children thrive at school, they can be supported to use the toilet by themselves, open and close their lunchboxes, ask for help, wait their turn, join a group, and explore the environment around them.
How school readiness program work
Our therapists can work with you to help your child develop the confidence and independence they may need prior to commencing school.
Steps to School Success is a small group program that helps your child achieve their school readiness goals.
We will work with you to understand your goals for your child and ensure the Steps to School Success program is right for your child. (If not, we can support you in other ways). Steps to School Success focuses on the following goals:
- Social interaction
- Communication
- Play
- Emotional development such as coping with frustration
- Physical skills, gross and fine motor
- Routines your child may experience at school
