Early Start Australia | NSW | Penrith (formerly Skills for Kids) has been providing therapy services for over 20 years to the Penrith and Blue Mountains area.

We provide Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Pathology services to children and young people (2 years to 18 years).

Our therapy services are delivered in our clinic and in local schools, and also via Telehealth. Various group therapy programs are available during school holidays.

Programs

As part of your therapy journey your therapist we may recommend some specific therapy programs to assist in achieving your goals including:

We teach strategies aimed at increasing successful classroom participation to help children in their transition from preschool to school.

For children who are transitioning into Year 7 (or repeating Year 7) who have organisation difficulties with school tasks and routines, as well as social difficulties in their interactions with others.

Adventure Camp is a fun learning camp for children in Years 4 – 7 who have difficulty with making and keeping friends and/or
resilience.

LEGO Therapy is a ‘play based’ therapy method for children in years 3 to 6 and applies the therapeutic benefits of play.

Stephanie Baker

Stephanie Baker

Practice Principal

Stephanie graduated from the University of Sydney in 1989 as an Occupational Therapist and has worked with infants, children, and young people in a variety of settings.

Stephanie has completed postgraduate study at The University of Sydney in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorder, sensory processing, executive functioning (including the Perceive Recall Plan Perform System of Task Analysis), imaginative play, written expression and goal-directed training of hand function.




Rachel Paul

Practice Principal

Rachel graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) from the University of Western Sydney in 2011 and began working at Skills for Kids, now Early Start Australia Penrith, in November of that year. In 2010, Rachel was involved in a community paediatrics program as part of a 6-month university exchange to San Jose, California. It was this experience which formed Rachel’s commitment to working with children to increase their participation in the home and school environment. She is particularly passionate about working with children with Autism and completed a Master of Autism at Griffith University in 2017.
