Does the NDIS fund psychology and who is eligible min

Does the NDIS fund psychology and who is eligible?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding for psychology services to support individuals with capacity building functional needs related to their disability.

To be eligible, you must:

  •  Be under 65 years old
  • Reside in Australia as an Australian citizen (or hold a Permanent or Protected Special Category Visa)
  • Have a permanent impairment or disability that significantly impacts your daily life

The NDIS funds solely non-clinical supports to help participants with capacity building for emotional, social and functional needs. Clinical treatments, such as the medical treatment of symptoms and mental health care plans, are funded elsewhere and not the NDIS.

How does NDIS psychology work?

NDIS-funded psychology services provide evidence-informed interventions, designed to improve emotional regulation, social and functional needs for children and adults with disabilities or impairments.

These services, which fall under the Capacity Building Supports budget, specifically Improved Daily Living, help address challenges and build capacity for the individual and caregivers.

By incorporating early intervention and consistent strategies supported by the NDIS framework, we significantly enhance the quality of life and outcomes.
