Early Start Australia | NSW | Chatswood (formerly Lift Off! Speech Language and Learning) has been providing services in the Chatswood area since 2010.

We provide Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Pathology services to children and young people (12 months to 17 years) to support the development in their play, communication, self-care, and academic skills. Our therapy services are delivered in our clinic, via Telehealth and we offer mobile services at home, childcare/pre-school, and school.

Kim Upshon

Practice Principal

Kim is a Speech Pathologist and founded Lighthouse Speech Pathology Centre in 2008. In 2021, Lighthouse Speech Pathology Centre joined Early Start Australia (ESA).

Kim has over 22 years of experience gained in South Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia. After graduating in 1997 with a dual degree in Speech and Hearing Therapy, Kim practised as both a Speech Pathologist and Audiologist in South Africa before relocating to England where she furthered her experience in hospitals, special schools, community clinics and private practice, specifically as a Speech Pathologist.

Upon immigrating to Australia in 2007, Kim continued to practise as a Speech Pathologist and founded Lighthouse Speech Pathology Centre the year after. Passionate about empowering children with speech and language, Kim has worked primarily in Paediatrics with extensive experience in children with speech disorders related to Cleft Palate and Velopharyngeal Anomalies. She has a special interest in this area of speech intervention and offers a second opinion service to other Speech Pathologists. Kim also takes great pride in developing her dedicated team of Speech Pathologists.

Kim is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and is registered with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).
