Early Start Australia Chatswood (formerly Lift Off! Speech Language and Learning) has been providing services in the Chatswood area since 2010.

We provide occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, music therapy and psychology services to children and young people (12 months to 17 years) to support the development in their play, communication, self-care, and academic skills. Our therapy services are delivered in our clinic, via Telehealth and we offer mobile services at home, childcare/pre-school, and school.

Our literacy programs are a great way to boost the development of essential literacy skills in a fun, engaging and supportive environment.

Support your child prior to commencing school or during school transitions to develop the skills they need to be confident and independent at school.

We run small social skills groups for children experiencing difficulties fitting in at school or with their peers.

Free parent information evenings are available for interested parent groups or kindy.

Our mealtimes team can assist with managing difficulties with eating or drinking including swallowing (dysphagia), food refusal and sensory issues, and disordered eating.

Our early intervention program is guided by the Early Start Denver Model.

Children are seen for individual sessions with an occupational therapist, speech pathologist and an allied health assistant each week.

Our music group, Groovy Kids will be run by an occupational therapist and music therapist to support children in using music as a strategy for regulation and sensory integration.

Children will be provided the opportunity to explore ways to use music and movement to:

Calm themselves when overstimulated
Recognise and communicate different emotions and feelings
Develop motor skills through movement
Develop oral strategies and breathing to assist in regulation
Build connections and friendships

Our regulation therapy program The Psyche and Motion Crew will be run by an occupational therapist and provisional psychologist to support children/young adolescents in developing social engagement skills through LEGO play and movement activities.

Participants will be provided the opportunity to explore social roles and interactions including:

Turn taking and sharing
Problem solving with peers
Social communication skills
Being assertive
Coping and regulation strategies

Meet our principal at Chatswood

Jessica Mudge

Practice Principal

Jess studied Occupational Therapy at the University of Sydney and is a Senior Occupational Therapist.

Her background is in Early Intervention, with a specific focus on supporting children, and their families, with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental delays.

Jess has experience working both in clinic and community settings within multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary teams, and holds particular interests in areas including play, school readiness, feeding, sensory processing, and clinical supervision.

She places a high value on building genuine rapport with families and children, having fun and working with her clinical team to achieve best outcomes within therapy.
